About Bodie
Bodie was raised in Raymond Alberta Canada and still resides there. Being close to the mountains and so much wildlife Bodie often spent a lot of time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and hiking with his father and other friends. Bodie has a bachelor’s degree in education and a bachelor’s degree in art. One of Bodie’s passions in life is fine arts, and led him to getting a degree in art. Bodie has loved art since he was old enough to pick up a crayon and colour. When his father was going to college he would often go with him and would happily sit and colour all day while his father was studying or attending classes. Luckily for Bodie he had wonderful parents who encouraged him to pursue his talents and interests and found him an art tutor when he was nine years old. It was there with his tutor that he gained an appreciation for and learned the skills of painting, drawing and printmaking. Bodie studied with his teacher for many years until she retired just a few years ago. Bodie learned about a wide range of mediums throughout his studies and time with his teacher but he now has a deep and abiding passion for oil painting.
The skills bodie learned from his art teacher as well as in university naturally lead him to combine it with one of his other interests which was long boarding. For the last 8 years Bodie has owned a business called Northern Board Co. where he custom painted hundreds of long boards and skateboards and sold merchandise (t-shirts, hoodies etc.) that he screen-printed himself. Bodie has been able to successfully market himself as an artist through this business venture but is now dedicated to pursuing a career as a painter.
Currently Bodie is a substitute teacher and is the instructor at Summit Art Studio. Bodie has about 40 students who come to learn about drawing and painting on a weekly basis. He teaches the fundamentals of drawing and painting and occasionally dives into printmaking and sculpture. Bodie also teaches groups of homeschooled kids at his studio. Bodie enjoys working with others and sharing his talents for the betterment of others. He enjoys helping others succeed as artists because it has brought him so much joy and fulfillment in his own life. Bodie also volunteers his time and talents often painting sets for the productions in his hometown of Raymond Alberta.
Bodie has many other interests, he is a foodie and loves talking about food, making it, and most of all eating it. He is also a music lover…. He listens to all kinds of music and loves playing music on his guitar. He also spends a lot of time with his family going on adventures and learning about the world whether that be travelling to other countries, camping, hiking, and fishing…. He only wishes we could do it more.
All of Bodie’s interests and hobbies could not compare to his family, they are the most important part of his life. He has been married for the best eight years of my life to his best friend Becca and now have two beautiful sons named Zeppelin & Hendrix (yes after Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix).
